Murray's teaching career

started in 2004 when he became the only drumming instructor at The Psalms of David School Of Music located in Randallstown Maryland. Murray taught three

drumming courses with student’s age ranging from 5 on up. Murray taught a mixture of students with a wide range of skill levels beginners to advance. Later that year, many of his students performed a musical piece at the year end schools recital. This is where the love and passion

for teaching all started. In 2011, Murray then developed and became the principle of the New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown School of Music.

In each of Murray lessons, his students will quickly learn the basics of drumming, including: stick control, sight reading, playing by ear techniques, rhythms, drum fills, drum licks and much more. It does not matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced drummer. He spends the same amount of time and effort for all of his students. Murray tries to make every lesson fun and meaningful while playing both by ear and by sheet music. His lessons are really hands on using teaching methods such as music books, DVD’s, and some playing of his own. Students have a great time studying music theory, developing good techniques on the snare drum, learning how to assemble the drum set, learning to play the hand drum, learning the parts of the drums, how to tune the drums, and how to accompany other musical instruments.

It has been proven that after 3 to 6 months of taking lessons with Murray, all students will be well on their way to a very successful musical career having had so much fun and learning to play all different styles of music. Murray welcomes all students any age, any skill level. Hope to have you as a new student soon!

Motto: Let’s play Good, get Better, and play our Best!
